We wanted to find out the best rich black to use too. As part of this we produced a handbook which shows six examples next to each other. We show examples which have a CMYK value of:

0/0/0/100
20/0/0/100
100/100/100/100
40/0/0/100
50/20/20/100
60/40/40/100

i was using a 15:15:15:100 mix under the presumption that less ink would cause less headaches for my press op. it turns out he had to make up for my reduced ink coverage by pounding his black, screwing up the rest of the images in the ad. now i know: 60:40:40:100

Great Article. I think that different printers and designers across the globe have different names for different mixes of Black, but still use 60C, 0M, 0Y 100K quite frequently/
