X-height

In typography the x-height equals the height of a lowercase letter ‘x’, without taking into account ascenders and descenders. Since the x-height represents the most important area of a letterform, it is a more realistic measurement of the size of a typeface than the point size is.

The x-height is also known as body height, body size or z-height.
